I went for this model over the auto for a few reasons having held both. Being manual wind this watch sits flatter then the thicker auto. Theres also no polished section on the case like the auto instead its all bead blasted so its less dressy and has a more simple rugged look.

Winding it in the morning before you put it on is a totally joy!.

This is my first manual wind watch and I have to say I much prefer it over the autos Ive had. Autos you can feel moving on your wrist where as you cant with this watch

The watch is so simple, its basically just a really functional, rugged tool. The auto is lovely as well but imo makes a better dress watch with a field style while this model is a pure functional field watch. Im outdoors all day for my job and this is the perfect daily companion!

They are both stunning watches but if youre torn between the two I hope that helps a little.

One thing I will say is that while the strap is decent on this watch a black nato just looks stunning!

I bought this watch as an understated daily-wearer and I think it fits the bill very well. The dial is clear and uncluttered and the hands and markings are very legible. The dial is stated as black but often appears to be dark grey its a versatile colour meaning that you can wear the watch with a range of different strap types and colours. The watch works well with a NATO-style strap and you can pick these up for under £10 in a number of colours. The standard strap itself is very good, made of canvas and lined in leather, with good quality steel hardware.

The case is stainless steel and appears to be hardwearing. The watch is 38 mm compared with popular watches at present is probably mid-size. I have relatively small wrists and the watch is discreet-looking, without appearing too small. The holes for the spring bars which retain the strap are drilled through, meaning that it’s relatively easy to change the standard strap with an easily obtained tool.

So far the movement appears accurate and its hand-winding nature means that the watch is comparatively thin I quite like the fact it’s hand-winding anyway, as it’s relatively unusual these days and you feel more involved in the process. The Swiss ETA calibre movement driving the watch produces 28,800 vibrations per hour which gives a pleasing sweep of the second hand. Having a date function is really helpful and I don’t think it negatively affects the layout of the dial I’ve seen other reviews that say that it splits up the dial but I don’t agree.

This is a classic design from a decent brand, with a good Swiss movement and for the price, I don’t think you can go wrong with it.

Excellent, well made watch that looks much better in the flesh than in pictures. Having the ETA 2804 handwind movement means its thin and light on my 6.5 inch wrist. Great accuracy straight out of the box. It is +7 seconds a day which Im very happy with. I swapped the strap for a black nylon as I didnt think the original really suited it. Its extremely easy to read at a glance and the display has a slight dome which is nice. All in all Im very happy, and hope that it lasts for a long time. I was deciding between this and the Hamilton Khaki auto and I think I made the right choice.

I like the basic military style of this watch, the case has a non polished sand blasted look and it has a mechanical movement which has to be wound up. Although the watch is a 38mm it feels more like a 40mm, maybe because the lug length is quite long. Although there is nothing wrong with the strap that the watch comes with I have put a NATO strap on my one which really adds to the military look of the watch. All in all this is a great watch with bundles of character from a brand with an interesting history.

I ordered this because I wanted a back to basics watch that was easy to read and was light weight. The strap, as the name suggests, is a light khaki which is leather lined, it very comfortable to wear and stays put on your wrist. The movement is a ETA 2804-2 mechanical which is a reliable and accurate time keeping construction, you wont find this caliber movement in any other watch for this price. The watch also has drilled lugs meaning it is possible to easily change the strap if I waned to in the future. I wanted a mechanical watch beacuse of the act of having to wind my watch in the morning, its not for everyone but some will love the daily connection to their time piece.

The Hamilton Khaki manual wind watch oozes Hamiltons military history. In befitting its vintage styling its slightly smaller than a lot of modern watches at 38mm diameter, but thats a plus point in my book. Some watch manufacturers seem to be in an arms race to make the biggest watch and its getting ridiculous. The watch is very comfortable to wear due to its size and easily slips under a shirt cuff or sleeve.

If you want a good looking, well built and reliable watch with a military pedigree then I highly recommend it.

I did change the strap on mine to a US military style one piece nylon strap, not because theres anything wrong with the original strap - there isnt - I just like the style.

Awesome watch and service and at a fair price. Can not fault the service or delivery and this was the only place I could find a black faced version.

The Hamilton is a watch Ive been looking at for some time. I like the military references back to those watches issued to armed forces years ago, like the high contrast face and the shot blasted case. It is larger than they used to be, more modern in size, yet not too big 38mm excluding crown. The eta hand wound mechanical movement is silky smooth and a pleasure to operate. It is very accurate, for a none quartz mechanism and has the reputation of being extremely robust, more so than the automatic variants, which obviously have more moving parts. I wasnt too keen on the canvas strap but that has been quickly and inexpensively rectified, the new brown padded leather strap suits well, allowing the watch to be used both as a sports watch and a dress watch due to its slim proportions it fits under a cuff very easily.
Hamilton watches offer great value for money, belonging to the same Swatch stable as the likes of Omega and Longines but being a fraction of the cost. The build quality looks excellent, way better than most other sub £300 watches I own.
Overall Im well pleased, an impressive piece of time keeping machinery.

This is a lot of watch for the price - grab one whilst theyre still available. Winding the movement is a tactile pleasure - the smooth feel inspires confidence. After only a few days I can already say that accuracy is around 3 seconds a day - well up to standard for a mechanical watch. The strap may not suit everyone but the through-drilled lugs make swapping straps simplicity itself.
