Watch is easy to set up. Arrived working one hour ahead with city set to Paris so changed to London to give correct time. One link removed by those very nice people at Goldsmiths as recommended. Dont wear it much at home so during the day the watch will charge away from but facing a south window. It will time sync every night inside a drawer whilst it goes into sleep mode. This is the third Casio solar atomic timekeeping watch I have owned and all have worked well but this one is the best so far.

My husband loves watches and gadgets and this watch provides both. When on his bike he uses the altitude sensor and checks the barometric pressure fit change in weather. When walking we make use of the direction sensortoo. The watch updates itself around 2am every day being solar and radio controlled. Its a smart looking watch and is very light because it is made from titanium. A fantastic watch for a watch enthusiast.

Great watch, well balanced between style and function.
Ive been a Casio Pro trek fan for years and its good to see the usual build quality is still apparent.

A beautiful, well sized watch.
Surprisingly a lot lighter than it looks.
Everything feels and functions as Id expect from my past Pro Trek experiences.

Bracelet link removal wasnt what I was use to need to use a bracelet link removal tool really. My older Pro Treks have a simpler link removal process, but with the excellent free size adjustment provided via Goldsmiths, this wasnt really a problem 2 links needed removing for my small wrist.

In all, an impressive watch that looks built to last.

I must comment on the excellent service from Watchshop. I ordered the watch on Saturday morning and it arrived on Monday morning even after having its bracelet altered. The watch does everything I expected it to do and although it appeared quite heavy, in actual fact it is very light and fits comfortably on the wrist. All the functions that you need for trekking are there and it keep wonderfully accurate time. The size of the printing in the manual could do with being a little larger. I would certainly recommend Watchshop and this watch.

Amazing Watch here.

This is the Third Pro Trek watch I have bought from Watch Shop. There is nothing wrong with the other watches, I just wanted an Analogue Version of the two Digitals I own and this is perfect. Great to look at, nice, bulky, but light and comfy. The only thing missing from this model, and I knew this before purchase, is the Tide and Moon Phase operation of the digital versions. This is an excellent watch guys and the icing on the cake is of course the brilliant service from the guys at Watch Shop. 10/10.

I could not be more impressed with the quality of the watch I bought .. From receiving the watch , the first thing I noticed was the quality of the presentation packaging , original Casio box , labels , protective film etc .. The first view of the watch itself was awesome , easily as described , if not better . Putting the watch on , it was a little loose on my wrist but this was easily remedied by adjusting the spring bar on the clasp , it took a matter of moments . Setting the watch up was simplicity itself , thanks to the step by step instruction booklet . I havent used a lot of the features yet but I have used the alarm , world time , auto dst and digital time .. all work perfectly so I have absolutely no doubt that the compass , barometer and altimiter will be equally as accurate and easy to use .. all in all , I have bought myself a top top quality timepiece .

It is a bit risky buying a product that you have not had the opportunity to see, touch and operate, however, most of the existing reviews for this watch were honest and accurate and the 3D images and videos were very helpful. I reviewed and compared this watch with others in the same price range over an extended period of research using the internet.

Pros:
1. A quality watch.
2. The watch is relatively large but not heavy or out of place on the wrist.
3. Amazingly good value for the money compared to other on-line retailers.
4. I find the watch very attractive on the wrist.
5. Amazingly accurate, spot on when compared to the Atomic Clock.
6. All the sensor functions appear to operate within acceptable tolerances once calibrated, as described in the manual,
7. Exceptional DHL delivery performance, less than 2 days UK to ROI from time of order.

Cons:
1. It is disappointing that the watch does not have illuminating dials/hands.
2. The location of the illumination light source compromises the ability to read the digital screen in the dark.
3. Because the watch has a lot of functions, there is a large learning curve, a lot of pushing of buttons and trial and error before you become familiar with what is available.
4. The watch will need to be removed from the wrist occasionally to perform some functions such as ambient temperature readings, over night charging or radio signal time calibration.
5. It is recommended that you do not attempt to adjust the bracelet yourself as I did, as there are small locking rings within each link which fall out and go missing.

Overall, even though this watch has a number of Cons it is still a very impressive piece of technology which is presented in a very attractive and functional watch. The only unknown is the reliability and durability which only time will reveal. However, based on my previous experience of Casio time pieces I do not think this will be an issue or concern. A very satisfying buying experience .

An excellent fully featured premium range Casio watch.
Hard wearing Titanium body and strap.
The body construct of the watch is extremely detailed and well engineered.
Wave-ceptor radio beacon allows for automatic setting of the time.
Numerous functions for outdoor and sports such as Altimeter and Barometer.
The facia of the watch is impressive.Layered display with extremely detailed finish. World time function with 29 cities inscribed around the dial.
I would recommend this watch to anyone for general or sports use.
Many of the functions will appeal to climbers and hill walkers.
The watch is also water resistant to 10BAR.

I bought the watch from the watchshop as after hours of research they were the best value for money. I had to wait a week or so for the watch to be back in stock and as soon as the mail came through to say it was in I bought it straight away! About £65 cheaper than anywhere else.
the watch is superb, lightweight, great looking, packed with features that are v easy to use, and is great for going out or leisure wear. The only thing that was a little disappointing is the light. It does the numerals and hands very well but not the lcd display. The signal for the automatic time keeping is well picked up and the signal clearly displayed on the face.
Absolutely chuffed to bits with it and so pleased with the quality and price.

P.s cant fault the service from the watchshop, never used then before but will always check here first if I want to buy another watch.

The watch is everything I expected from a Casio watch my 5th!
Im glad I went for the Titanium version, its very light and comfortable to wear.
Ive not yet fully explored all the functions, some of which Im sure Ill never use on a regular basis.
The face is clear, uncluttered and easy to read. Altogether a great watch.
The service from the Watch Shop was first class. Firstly, the price was great almost £100 less than Amazon. I placed my order at 2 PM on a Thursday and it was delivered to my place of work àt 10:30 the following morning. I took it to my local Goldsmiths jewelers to get the bracelet adjusted which they did free of charge when I showed them my Watch Shop receipt.
Simply an all round GREAT service, thanks guys!

What a watch! Having looked at getting a G Shock I discovered the Pro Trek range. After some serious consideration about parting with my money I decided on this watch. Everything about the watch works a treat. The metal strap is robust but comfortable. The gadgets just mean you find yourself checking the temperature, altitude and magnetic north all the time. I have a friend who is a Rolex wearer and swears by them, he commented on how aesthetically pleasing this watch is. What a great buy.

I purchased this for my husband for Christmas, so officially he does not have it yet but he had to try it on. We had 3 links removed from the strap to make the fit better but that was not an issue at the local jewelers. He is very please with the fit, size of face, features, and easy of set up, although the manual that comes with it looks very daunting!!

I bought the Casio pro trek. Its a fantastic watch one of the more expensive ones in the range , but well worth it ! Needs no battery as its radio controlled. The only down side its a little tricky to get the hang of the features or that could me being a tipicle man and not reading the instructions properly. I dont normally go for metal straps as a rule but this is very robust as it the watch itself which has a compass , barometer And altimeter which are quite accurate. So all in all a good buy for any one whos the outdoors type or simply just wants a good robust watch with a few gadgets.

this watch was delivered yesterday and is a wonderfully huge watch but looks really great on my thinnish wrist with a very large clear and easy to read dial... my current digital G-Shock is getting slightly hard to read without putting on my glasses, which is the reason I bought this superb watch and although a large watch, its not heavy, due to the well-finished titanium case & bracelet

WatchShops service is highly recomended too - buy this watch now!

I give my review after only owning the watch for about a week, but do own 4 other solar radio controlled watches one of which is a casio digital with the same features, compass, barometer etc. There are 3 things this type of watch should be able to do and this watch does not rate high on each one. I could see no signs of it being radio controlled on the face most watches have give-away signs or even say on the face radio controlled: but that aside they are 1, indication of battery charge. My Citizen Skyhawk as a charge gauge on the front, my other Casio as a symbol showing H M L high, medium low, on this watch you hold button D for 2 seconds. 2 Indication of latest radio update my other Casio shows a symbol on the face so I immediately know it is exactly correct, my other analogue watches its the press of one button and the second hand points to H M L or No if no signal pick-up was possible. This watch you trawl through 6 modes to receive mode to find the time and date of the last update. 3 time zone changes On my other casio its just the pressing of 2 buttons and one can move forward or back through time zones, my analogue Citizen watches are almost as simple. On this watch once you are in the time zone change mode you can only move clockwise, so going to Spain or Paris its just the press once on button A when coming home though one has to press this button endless times it was in Paris time when it came to move all the way round the face to get back to London. One final point titanium bracelets look good but the metal does scratch and although the Watchshop offered to adjust the strap it came unadjusted, so I to do it myself.
After all that its a great looking watch and looks rugged and Im sure reliable which is what I wanted from a solar powered radio controlled watch.

The CASIO PRO TREK WAVE CEPTOR TITANIUM ALARM CHRONOGRAPH RADIO CONTROLLED WATCH PRW-5000T-7ER
is working as perfectly i.e. all the three control sensors. Colour and style of the Watch is great.
The Watch strap is a little trickly I had three links taken out, and shortly afterwards a securing pin in one of the links must have fallen out, so I have to get this mended in such a way that this fault does not re-occur.

Hi, Bought this watch as the features seemed to be just what I was after.
The watch looks good, seem tough although the band already has a few scatches after only three weeks. The watch has good features, all works ok, wears well, nice and comfortable and very light for the size.
People have also commented on how well the watch looks.
Couple of issure that are very poorly designed, hands are quite large, look nice amd make it easy to read, but they block information in the digital display, at certain times you cannot read anything on the display, The LED is poor and you cannot read any digital display with the LED at night. Very poor design if you are looking to use any of the features at night other than to tell the time.
Would I buy it again, nope!

I bought this watch as a replacement for my existing Casio watch which has given 5 years faultless service. The styling is just what I wanted, being very attractive with a surprising 3D depth to the dial. All the functions are accessed with ease, I have no criticisms whatsoever. As with every Casio metal-linked strap, removing links to suit my small wrist is something of a challenge, as there are some very small parts which you have to save and reuse. I used a blunted dental probe and small pliers on a large clean flat surface so no parts were lost, it took me 10 minutes. Very satisfied with the watch.

This was to replace the earlier model, stolen with my backpack, from my moving car, whilst on a trip to France. This version includes radio time set so that shouldnt happen again!
still getting to grips with all the facilities, A pocket size crib sheet would be useful!
Easy to read, with or without glasses, bracelet adjustment was a step to far, so a local jeweller adjusted it for a fiver! You can buy a whole kit for a little more so you can adjust it yourself, guides online.
A useful watch for home and away

This is a spectacular looking watch with a multitude of functions, true the accuracy of some of the sensors for temp and compass is not perfect but it is good enough.

It is a large watch but once its on, it doesnt feel as though its dragging your arm down, it weight feels just right and it is aesthetically pleasing to look at.

Where do I start with this watch, I was looking at this watch for a long time debating on whether or not I should buy it, reading through all the reviews seeing what people had to say good and bad about it. Then I took the plunge and went for it. Unfortunately my girlfriend seen the price and instantly went mad with me saying why have you payed that much on a watch that will be your everyday watch. My answer was simple, in the last 2 years Ive spent the equivilant on watches to try and match this and I shouldve just bought this to start with so anyways girlfriend aside I clicked buy and the order was complete.
2 days later ordered on the Sunday processed Monday and sent out then received Tuesday I was at work and was excited to see it when I got home, didmt really acknowledge the girlfriend just went in and opened it like a crazy kid at Xmas time. There it was in a wooden box which did take me a minute to figure out how to get inside it. Anyways once inside it was better than the picture, took it out and tried it on already stating what size I required on the order form and it fit lovely. Now Im not a great fan of the metal braclett type but this felt comfortable. Another factor was that I had ordered the titanium one and if was so light I thought it was a fake. Now it was on it was time to play with all its features.
The first thing I did was open the manual and read what it had to say. The instructions were clear but I had to read them a couple if times. First of all it tells how to set the watch to the country your in. In my case it was the uk so I looked for lon for London and it set its own time and date. It could be done manually but why not take advantage of a self altering watch. Then was just the features to play with. Such as the thermometer barometer altitude and altitude, all nice toys for a boy to play with.
Now I wear this all day everyday and occasionally just press one of the features just to see how good it is. Really strong watch. Puts up with a lot I give it and is a great watch to have on my wrist.
In all honesty I would get this or one like this again. If your like me who likes the gadgets and what not then this will surely tick that box.

I have looked at many makes and types of watches and I own over 30 watches at the moment I also purchased the very first Pro Trek watch many years ago which I still own. I purchased this watch because it can be worn as a dress watch as well as a normal every day watch and will not look out of place in any situation. The features this watch offers are fantastic they make going hiking and mountain biking a dream you always no that you can find your way back you can always be aware of what the weather is going to do in advance so you can decide whether to go out walking or cycling I enjoy both, my eye sight is not as good as it was and the clear dials and bright hands make this watch very easy to read. I found setting up the watch easy and once set up the watch gives accurate readings but you do need to calibrate the watch for this to happen which is the only small draw back but once done it is worth spending that little bit of extra time, the other reason for this purchase was I will never need to buy another battery and I will never need to set the time again on this watch which I have to do on my other watches, on reflection this watch offers great value for money compared to other watches, I feel this will be a dependable time piece for years to come just like the older version I own. I have only had this watch for a few days but have already been used all the functions for the purpose that they where intended for and it did not let me down, the last thing I like about this watch is its water resistance I have a nasty habit of putting my hands in water due to removing mud and other things from bikes and shoes when cleaning and I also shower in my watches and this watch offers a great water resistance and when I go on holidays this watch will be used to go snorkelling as well. I could go on and on about how much I like this watch and I am sure people will not be as enthusiastic as me but it does offer all you will ever need from a watch thank you Casio for a great watch.

Initially I was concerned that this watch might be too big for my slim wrist. No problem, with four links easily removed it fits well and is comfortable to wear.

It is as light as my previous Casio stainless steel cased watch and packed with many more features. The menu system seems easier to navigate with good, clearly labelled buttons.

The time display is easy to read at a glance, although I struggle to read some of the small text - time zones - ready - under - over and work. As I usually wear reading glasses, this hasnt been a problem.

Overall I really like this impressive looking watch, which charges itself in a reasonable amount of light, and synchronises with Anthorn daily, adjusting for daylight savings time too.

Well what can I say I bought this watch purely on its looks, I really like the large chunky look and the Titanium strap. Im ex military and Im sure some of the functions would have come in useful whilst I was still serving but are of no use to me now but fun to play with, although the watch is large to look at I hardly notice it on because its so light. I love the watch and Im very pleased I bought it.

Fantastic Watch....normally I choose Citizen watches but been on the lookout for something different. If you want to stand out then the ProTrek is a must. Great conversation piece too. However if you want to undertake scientific work then the functions are not exactly spot on but they are great toys to show off. Resetting the altimeter to a known position does help though. Thermometer works better when off the hand as the sensor is susceptable to body heat from your wrist. Barometer seems to be ok and the compass is there abouts but again I wouldnt trust it to be 100%. Power supply has not been an issue but I usually keep it under a lamp or by the window when not in use but once fully charged can last months without any issues. I like the auto backlight too, especially if in cinema or theatre, just tilt towards your face and it lights up..thats cool.
Photo isnt brilliant but shows you the size and it is surprisingly light!

I recommend this for showing off!

Bought this watch after reading many reviews and pouring over many different watchs and makes, i was apprehensive at first especially regarding the negative feedback on the instruction manual being small and complicated but the look of the watch sold me and im glad it did.I do alot of hill walking and cross country biking so wanted a watch that was up to the job and looked good, multiple alarms and compass were also a requirement the compass actually helped me when my gps seemed to be playing up recently on Beinn Dorain!. So far ive walked The Great Glen Way, climbed several Munros and pedelled many a mile on my bike the watch has encountered nearly all possible weather except snow but no doubt ill get that soon and has been great. a few minor scratches have appeared on the strap but considering my activities im not too worried about these and as an everyday watch it certainly draws attention from admirers. The manual is small but easy enough to follow and after spending a day getting used to the watch i havent used the manual since, Altimeter is fairly accurate compared to my gps 10 meters difference so happy with this as a back up. Barometer seems a bit more complicated but in my view if im out and im wet..its raining!! As expected with a solar watch and radio time keeping accuracy is perfect. After wearing this watch for 5 weeks i can honestly say I love it, great watch, looks great, performs great and feels like its part of me. My only regret is i hadnt bought one years ago.

This is a truly excellent watch! I used to own a Casio watch with a built in calculator remember those? when i was at school, Later as i got older i decided to try another brand which i wont name, THE FACE FELL OFF! Even though it was an expensive watch, then i tried another brand with a nice chronograph face, THE HANDS STOPPED WORKING CORRECTLY!, so i decided to try my childhood memory Casio, i bought an Edifice solar charged watch, cant remember the model number, i liked it a lot so i splashed out and bought a beautiful Casio ProTrek WaveCeptor Solar Charged PRW-5000T-7ER from this site, Ive had it for a week now and i absolutely love it! It was a little pricey but you do get a hell of a lot of watch for your cash, the face is bright and easy to read, the digital display which shows the month, date, and day is also very clear, the watch has 5 alarms though i only need one, and the list of functions doesnt stop there, this thing is packed full of more features than you can shake a stick at! If you want a watch which is both sporty for features and also very attractive for dress, that can do everything you could possibly need and more, then i HIGHLY recommend this watch. Once again Casio shows off their excellent watch making know-how. Get one now!

Very impressed with this watch. It is the first solar powered I have used, having previously had a Timex compass watch, with no problems, but the wave ceptor has the additional applications. It is certainly the largest watch I have worn, but is extremely light. I will be wearing the watch on planned hikes in Northern europe this year. I would suggest using the wrist measurement option as I had to use a local watchmaker to remove links for final fit.

I had the old proteks and had to get the latest version. It does all the things the previous versions do but brings the top of the range more up to date into a fantastic looking package. With the added benefit of it self adjusting where appropriate to incredibly accurate local time using radio technology.

proteks are a must for travellers, hikers, explorers and mountaineers.. you genuinely do use the gizmos that the watch has to offer. The world timer, which is one of the main features i need, is a lot more fiddly and less easy to access different time zones than the all digital older versions. The analogue fascia takes prominence which gives you doubts but i think it works. Also the digital display could have been bigger (somehow) but i think they will sort that in futures versions i guess.

I have a larger than average wrist but actually prefer the better quality titanium strap all day long rather than go for the rubber strap version in the similar lower model, plus it it goes without saying that it looks better and can be worn while in formal clothes where as you wouldnt wear the resin strap model so basically with the PRW-5000T-7ER when its on your wrist you are just itching to show it off !!!

Overall am very happy with my buy on the Watchshop given how expensive they are from other watch retailers plus the dispatch time was very fast and sent to me at record speed!!!!

Bottom Line: looks quality, feels quality and is quality!

Watch easy to set up, looks great, just needed a couple of links taken out from strap to make fit.
Please note that the temperature reading will only work properly once watch is removed from wrist (as body heat can effect reading). This is noted in the instructions. Also note that it recommends that it is worn so that the solar recharging face is open to sun / light, however this means that you have to be extra careful not to scratch the screen / strap. Most watches I have worn tend to fit under shirt sleeves, but in this case it would not re charge.

Casio PRW-5000-7ER are already look very nice in design, the designer's succeeded in Titan's bracelet is beautiful. their weight is actually even I have sometimes had a feeling from them nor do I have on hand. are accurate, easy to use. thermometer surprised me with their precision that are very similar to the actual thermometer. combine analog watch with so many and such good features was a great idea. I can only object to the function of an instrument that is slag delays and deviations measured at 5 meters. even though I can watch only recommend. i think it was a good investment.

The PRW-5000 is a watch for the outdoor enthusiast. Sure the ABC (altimeter, barometer, compass) features have been available in CASIO watches for over a decade but never have they been so seamlessly integrated into an analog face.

In altimeter mode, the LCD displays an altitude graph, like all CASIO Protrek/Pathfinders do, but in this model the second hand acts as an altitude differential meter with the gauge from 11 o'clock to 7 o'clock. (See the 10 - 0 - -10 gauge?). The ability to change the scale on this from 5 or 50m shows that CASIO really put a lot of thought into designing a great analog/digital ABC watch. You can read the change in altitude at a glance without remembering exactly what altitude you started taking readings.

In barometer/thermometer mode the second hand acts as a barometric pressure differential gauge also, in addition to displaying the pressure or temperature on the LCD. The watch automatically takes a pressure reading every two hours and displays this as a graph on the home screen. This cannot be turned off. The advantage of this is that you can use this pressure graph in your own weather predictions. Watch as your hiking buddies are pleasantly surprised when you suggest them to take a breather and it rains soon after!

The digital compass in this watch has a physical feature previous Protreks did not have, which is an analog hand. I never get bored of watching the second hand moving to point north. In urban areas, where one can lose sense of direction more easily than out in the field, the compass comes in handy in every day situations as well. With the ability to calibrate for magnetic declination for whatever location, this watch can truly be useful in reading maps which are usually orientated towards true north. Of course this watch cannot replace a quality hand held compass but it can augment your travels with its convenience.

The accuracy of this timepiece goes without saying. It's radio-controlled. CASIO simplified as ATOMIC. Not that regular CASIO digital watches aren't accurate, at most they can lose 15-30s a month. But with the atomic feature, you never have to worry that the time has drifted too far off. Another feature to impress watch connoisseurs is TOUGH MOVEMENT. It's labeled prominently on the watch face, but CASIO doesn't advertise this enough. From what I have researched, this CASIO technology checks every hour using an internal LED that blinks 16 times a second to literally "see" if the gears of the H-M-S hands are aligned correctly AND if the hands are in sync with the internal digital time, if not, will correct it. This is no regular quartz watch.

CASIO, take note, areas to improve: glow in the dark markers for the hands. It's a hassle to quickly read the time if you have to push a button to read the time in the dark with the tiny LED at the bottom. On the other hand, you can tell people the LED light is a life-saving feature to help you read a map in the dark! Previous CASIO solar watches have long had EL back-light, so I don't know if this was a design decision on their part. Yes, there is a auto-light feature which can turn the light on when your wrist is at a certain angle, but it's a battery eater if you find yourself active in the dark. After the first few days of wearing this watch, I noticed some of the titanium links, especially the clasp exhibited some fine scratches. Strength should be improved in this regard.

This is a big watch, but many watches that do less are even bigger. On the other hand, big watches have become in vogue, so it doesn't look out of place in today's watch-wearing climate. Amazingly the watch is very light for it's size. CASIO with its extensive experience in timepiece engineering has continuously been perfecting the science of combining plastic and metal parts which both weight-reduce and strengthen their G-Shock and Protrek line of watches. If you hesitant on getting the titanium bracelet version because it's heavier, don't. The weight increase is minimal.

When this watch debuted in early 2010, I was instantly drawn to its stylish analog/digital combination face. Yes, many of its features are available in less expensive Protrek models, however, never before has it been available in an attractive package with such innovative new features. The PRW-5000 truly is a marvel of engineering and worth every penny. No other watch, including T-Touch or Suunto can match the ruggedness that is innate in CASIO Protrek. CASIO is in a field all its own.

To see all of what this watch has to offer, find the manual on the CASIO worldwide website (module 5114).

I've been looking around for a Protrek watch that would also look a bit stylish, and this one wins hands down. Easy to use. Rather than write an essay, here are the Pros, Cons, and Marmites (you love them or hate them)

Pros:

-Big, clear face

-Hands and numerals well visible in low light

-Rugged

-Very clear backlight allows telling of time in the dark

-Accurate compass (It matches my Silva compass bearings)

-Accurate barometer (once calibrated it has yet to drift)

Cons:

-No luminescent markings

-LED backlight only covers the hands and face, not the LCD, so you can only tell the time in the dark

-The rubber stabilising wings on the strap love to pinch your wrist hairs

Marmite:

-Analogue/digital...some people love it, some hate it. There may be more practical features in a pure digital ABC watch, but in terms of style I think this wins hands down

With this brand new Pro-Trek model Casio introduces a high performing watch which combines all its top rated technologies with an elegant style.

The case is resin-made to reduce weights and improve shocks and water resistance; the elegant bracelet is full titanium-made. For a total weight of 110g it stays perfectly at your wrist regardless the activity you are busy on.

The display incorporates a three hands movement with a LCD through which all the functions are displayed: analog and digital timekeeping, altimeter, barometer and compass among other functions which include temperature, world time, battery status, atomic time-calibration, 5 alarms, stopwatch, countdown timer and settings.

For people loving sport activities this watch provides useful information like digital compass, barometer to measure weather variations, current temperature and altimeter providing absolute and differential values, very useful when climbing or hiking. Of course these measures are not for professional or industrial level precision but well suited for many sports. In addition 100 meter (10 bar) water resistant classification (ISO 2281) makes this watch perfect for swimming, snorkelling, sailing and water sports.

The movement is quartz driven and features the famous Casio's Tough Movement: an optimized combination of plastic and metal parts ensures a high shock resistance and capability to auto recover and correct the hands home position. All that in reduced weight and space.

Time precision is ensured by the Casio’s Wave Ceptor radio controlled timekeeping able to receive signals from 6 stations in the world (two in Japan, and one each in US, UK, Germany, and China) and world time covering 29 different time zones.

Power is provided by Casio’s Tough Solar technology: a solar cell coupled with a rechargeable battery ensure lifetime duration with short daily exposition to light or 5 months of operating time without exposition to light. Automatic power saving functions (display and functions sleep) increase battery life when the watch is not used and left in a dark area.

A Full Auto LED provides an easy reading in the dark and the power of the LED is driven by ambient light intensity to optimize the battery life (the lower the light is the higher the LED power).

After one month of full usage I have appreciated the solar cell capability, able to maintain the battery fully charged; the radio controlled timekeeping, able to successfully synchronize each night at first tentative also from Sicily; the ABC (Altimeter, Barometer, Compass) functions, although altimeter working on absolute values needs an initial calibration as correctly explained in the manual. Overall robustness is good especially for the case: I’ve accidentally stricken the watch against hard corners and no signs are visible. I cannot say the same for the bracelet where some scratches are visible especially on the clasp and on a few links. Not acceptable from my point of view for a titanium made bracelet. For people who plan to use the watch on heavy duties I suggest to consider the PRW-5000-1ER model, same functionalities but with a resin bracelet.

Global judgement is excellent. All these features combined with a competitive price, as offered by Watch Shop.com, make this 2010 model a must have for people who like to combine sport activities with daily life.

This is a fantastic watch. The manual is comprehensive and very easy to read. All of the functions are easy to access and all work very well. Altitude and barometric readings are acurate, although temperature can only be accurate if the watch is taken off for a while as it is affected by the heat of your wrist. The watch strap is also easy to put on and very well made. However, I am more comfortable with an animal watch strap. It was very easy to unscrew the titanium strap and replace it with another myself. It would be equally as easy to swap them back in the future.Setup was incredibly easy and the watch instantly picked up the radio signal to set the time, and has remained accurate ever since. The solar charging is very good and I have always had full charge. Overall an excellent watch which I would whole heartedly recomend. I personally feel that it looks better than the equivalent with the rubber strap - which has a blue background with red around the edge.

The ultimate ProTrek?

Absolutely.

First up, style. My 'other' watch is a beautiful Breitling Aeromarine, but I have to say this gives it a serious run for its money in terms of looks. Huge face, unique styling and drop dead features. Solar juice and atomic sync leave the Breitling standing.

Functionality? Well, I still have a PRW-1300Y (digital ProTrek) which has been abused beyonf belief however I just cannot bear to part with it. Knew already these were seriouly tough watches, but the PRW-5000T takes this concept somewhat into orbit. The astonishing presence of Casio's patented Tough Movement (an exclusive preserve of the high-end G-Shock pieces) in this ProTrek makes it an altogether drool-worthy item.

The price, delivery and overall WatchShop service made this a no-brainer for me. A HUGE technology release for 2010.
