This product does what it should. The face is clear and concise. Reading the dial is good even with failing light, and the illuminated face soon rectifies this. It has been my experience in the past to have a number of watches that the buttons require so much pressure to operate that you give up using the button altogether after a short while, or that the button needs so little depression that a slight draft is enough to start your stopwatch. The buttons on this watch are well placed and operate with just the right amount of pressure. The functions work, what can I add to that. The compass read north where north is, The alto-meter tells how high you are, the barometric tell you what the pressure is. If I have a negative it would be that the thermometer, to have a true reading needs to be fully exposed for a while. Its no good having your arm in the sleeve of you coat, then expecting it to have the correct temperature in the room your in, but that's more about common sense and level of expectation. All in all I would recommend this watch to anyone who likes the out doors, and for those that just like a good looking watch on their wrist.

I've been away from Casio for a few years but when my Seiko packed up after only five years of service I got back to trusty Casio and this ProTrek model for everyday use. I wanted something maintenance free (solar powered & digital), dead-on accurate (Wave Ceptor), waterproof and light weight. This watch delivered just that and I must say that I am well pleased with both its performance and looks. I was pleasantly surprised by the size which is less bulky than what it looks on the product image. In particular the height of the watch which is not as bad (read. high) as I thought. This caused some initial concern after placing my order as I have quite slim arms.
In terms of looks it looks about as stylish/exclusive as a digital watch can I reckon, much because of its overall black appearance in comparison to most of the other Pro Trek watches. Not something I would wear to a date with Jessica Alba which is quite unlikely to happen in any case, but it is discrete enough to look okay with a shirt at work.
My only negative experience so far is the reception of the Wave Ceptor function. Observe that this is not tied to this particular watch as such but rather the feature in general. I live in Stockholm, Sweden and the watch only barely manages to calibrate itself say every five to seven days during the night.
Bottom line -- bang for the buck for this product is phenomenal. In particular if you look at the extensive feature set of the watch. I should also mention that this product is nearly twice the price in stores in Sweden.

Regards
Jim

The watch is just as I imagined. Design is very nice. Not available in Germany, so i have to order it in UK. Functions are nearly the same as my old Casio Alt-6000, which ist broken after 17 years daily wearing. Hope I´ll have the new one as long as the old one.

First thing the watch arrived on very next day. The watch is very cool. It is big but still very light weighted. It can go with formal and casual outfits. most important the watch is very tough. highly resistive to scratches. It is a worthy buying watch. I would recommend it my friends.

I love Casios.

I love Titanium.

I do not bother buying expensive watches anymore. All I do is buy Casios and change them when the eye tires. Please see my pics attached.

Do not worry about the size; this watch is so light that you don’t notice it is around your wrist. Sometimes I forget to take it off.

This Black Titanium Casio is a real beauty. First class finish, very comfortable with lots of functions such as the altimeter, thermometer, barometer, which are as accurate as my Tissot Touch or better still my Garmin 705 cycle computer . The black screen is very unique and glows lovely green when lit up.

I have had the chunky Casio see the picture of both watches for 18months and no scratches on the screen. The mineral glass screen is bomb proof.

At this price how can you go wrong.? A top buy.

Living in a mountain area, I was looking for a new watch with altimeter, thermometer, compass, illumination, and, most important this time: radio controlled for sync'ing my camera with my GPS logger. Solar powered is highly welcomed (as it saves the costly battery exchange). Ideally, it would have a GPS logger built-in, too. From the style, I like huge bulky watches and it shouldn't be exactly one of the watches 20% of my friends and colleagues wear.

Having said this, I've found the PRW-1300Y-1VER, which fulfills almost all my specifications except for the GPS logger and the huge size.

This watch is simply one of the most elegant digital watches I've ever seen, proving Douglas Adams wrong ("[they] are so amazingly primitive that they still think digital watches are a pretty neat idea."). The watch is much slimmer and smaller than it appears on the photos. The housing is silky matte black with golden ticks on it. The dark display changes its color tint according to the incidence of light. Despite its small size, the display shows a lot of useful information at once without looking complex or cluttered: It remains elegantly clean. The layout of the display can be changed according to personal preferences.

One thing which impresses me each time at Casio's ProTrek watches (yes, I have more than this one...) is the uncalibrated precision of the altimeter. Like all altimeters (yes, even the ones in the air crafts) it measures the air pressure and temperature, where both are altitude dependend. As both parameters are also subject to atmospheric/weather changes, each and every altimeter has to be calibrated against a known altitude. However, without being calibrated and despite the temperature of the watch is highly influenced by the body temperature, the ProTrek usually gives correct readings within +/- 40 m altitude. Of course, if you need to get a more precise value, you have to set it to a reference value. But if you are just driving in the mountains and you're wondering at which altitude you are, it doesn't matter at all whether it is 2860 m or 2885 m...

Thanks to the solar power source, you don't need to be stingy with power consumption -- ie. use of compass, altimeter, and illumination.

On the down side is (for me) its small size and the lack of a "mode reset" button, which brings you blindly back to the time display: If you have pressed by chance any button, you have to press an unknown number of times the mode button until you're back to the time display -- which is a nuisance in the dark.

In summary: A great watch, highly recommended!

The watch is very attractive it is defiantly a watch that looks like a technical manly watch, I have a very thin wrist but even though the watch is large it doesn’t look odd, it fits very well. The watch is black and looks very smart you can water it anywhere and take t anywhere e.g. the water. In all I’m very happy I chose this watch and it is defiantly worth the money.
