Software Engineer


Role type: Full-time
Length of employment: Permanent

We are looking for a Software Engineer to join our team and become primarily responsible for designing, building and maintaining backend systems, as well as working on the public ecommerce sites.

The role will cover the building of intuitive back-end user interfaces within a LAMP stack environment, in order to expand our current bespoke platform, as well as the integration with 3rd party services via API calls using various technologies.

You should be talented, hard-working, enthusiastic, motivated, reliable and deadline driven. A natural problem solver with the ability to adapt quickly, coupled with a keen willingness to learn.

Qualified candidates should also have a complete understanding of how the front and back end interact. Understanding of the concepts of progressive enhancement and future friendly design are highly encouraged.

  • Proficiency in the following languages: PHP / MySQL / HTML5 / CSS3 / Javascript / jQuery;
  • Knowledge and experience of GIT / Linux / Apache / Bootstrap;
  • Understanding of web site hosting and server technology;
  • API Integrations with 3rd party services;
  • Comfortable working with a bespoke MVC framework;
  • High level of competence and experience of using and writing custom JavaScript code;
  • Familiarity with browser testing and debugging;
  • Excellent understanding of high performance, highly available, large scale web applications;
  • Firm Understanding of OOP PHP;
  • Team player, willing to pitch in for the greater good, including some mentoring of junior team members;
  • Excellent English communication skills both verbal and written;

2 x Junior to Mid Web Developers (front-end)

We are looking for 2 Web Developers (front-end) to join our team and become primarily responsible for designing, building and maintaining front-end systems, as well as working on the public ecommerce sites.

The role will cover building and styling new or existing sites, fluency in Javascript, a basic understanding of PHP and the capacity to work with components via a bespoke CMS.

You should be talented, hard-working, enthusiastic, motivated, reliable and deadline driven. A natural problem solver with the ability to adapt quickly, coupled with a keen willingness to learn.

Qualified candidates should also have a basic understanding of how the front and back end interact. Understanding of the concepts of progressive enhancement and future friendly design are highly encouraged.

  • Develop cross-browser, cross-platform landing pages and whole websites (Ecommerce);
  • Ability to debug and resolve cross-browser/platform issues;
  • Maintain, expand and scale existing websites;
  • Writing clean and concise HTML5 / CSS3;
  • Familiar with CSS Grid and Flexbox;
  • Knowledge of CSS preprocessors (SASS/SCSS) and BEM methodology;
  • Worked with frameworks such as Bootstrap;
  • Implementing hand-written JavaScript / jQuery and writing reusable JavaScript code;
  • You should be self-motivated and have a minimum of 1 years’ experience working on both desktop and responsive websites;
  • Some experience and understanding of GIT;
  • Familiarity with browser testing and debugging;
