Artists have been working in collaboration with companies |
Watches have always been a stylish and attractive addition to any wardrobe, but now many companies have taken it one step further by working with artists
Getting a new timepiece can often be a difficult choice when faced with the number of options available.
Whether it be a watch for work or a present to mark a special occasion, finding the perfect design can often prove to be a tough choice when faced with the selection of classic designs through to modern trends and sports watches.
However, art fans could have an easier choice in future as many of the most famous names from the art world have been teaming up with watch manufacturers to work on creating designs that fit in with their individual aesthetics.
Considering the trend, Retail Jeweller looked at some of the new designs coming on to the market, with Mr Jones Watches recently teaming up with Adrian Willard, the tattoo artist behind David Beckham's designs, to create a line based on the company's The Last Laugh collection.
Other collaborations come with another celebrity influence, with Ronnie Wood of the Rolling Stones turning his hand to his other passion to design a timepiece for Bremont.
"Ronnie began the creative process by roughing out the design for the clock on his sketch pad and then taking a deep breath before applying it to the clock. He found it quite a challenge to integrate the numerals on the face within the painting and also design the image so that it extended out on to the case," explained Giles English, who co-founded Bremont with his brother Nick.
He also told the publication that although the company had not always planned to team up with an artist, the resulting design was a fantastic addition to their collection.
Having a timepiece that you love can be just as important as if the watch is valuable or made by a famous brand, as watch company founder Richard Mille recently explained he thinks the accessories have a duty to making people smile.
