A Timex watch has been given the thumbs up in a recent review regarding its abilities concerning speed and endurance training

Runners looking for a watch to give them the details they need may want to invest in a new offering from Timex.

To celebrate the ING New York City Marathon, official Timex watches will be produced under the Ironman brand and they are able to match expectations for people "looking for a simple watch for speed and endurance training", according to the New York Times.

The world-famous newspaper explained that the watch is both comfortable and lightweight, while runners will likely fall in love with it due to its ability to hold up well under sweat and training.

And while the watch is not linked to GPS or a heart monitor, it features the time and date, three alarms, 24-hour countdown timers, a chronograph that allows the storage of 150 lap times, and the famous Indiglo night-light - good features for the price-point of around £50, the newspaper added.

The ING New York Marathon will take place on November 1st, though runners in the UK may be tempted to go for a half marathon before then, as the Great North Run kicks off in Newcastle on Sunday September 20th.
