Manchester City are thriving on the field and off it
Leading watchmaker Richard Mille has announced a new partnership with reigning Premier League champions Manchester City.
The agreement is the first of its kind for the club, which is sure to compete for the top prizes over the next few years thanks to significant levels of investment from its Abu Dhabi owners.
Under the terms of the agreement, Richard Mille, which is based in Switzerland, will be known as the club's official timing partner.
And John Macbeath, the chief executive of Manchester City, explained that the club was pleased to have reached the agreement due to the fact that Richard Mille shares the same values.
"This new partnership provides many exciting opportunities for collaboration through selected VIP events and a bespoke match-day box experience," he commented.
Echoing this view is Peter Harrison, chief executive of the watch manufacturer, who said: "We are proud to announce our partnership with Manchester City whilst the Premier League Champions are celebrating such a significant moment in the history of the club.
"Manchester City's commitment to excellence and innovation perfectly matches Richard Mille's desire to create unique timepieces with a strong and inspiring identity. We look forward to a long and successful partnership with Manchester City Football Club."
The watch manufacturer has announced plans to donate a piece to auction on behalf of City in the Community, the club's charitable organisation.
Richard Mille announced that the proceeds raised will eventually go towards improving the lives of children in the Manchester area.
Manchester City won their first league championship in forty44 years last season, with a late goal from Sergio Aguero sealing the triumph against QPR on the last day of the season.
Since the club was acquired by Abu Dhabi investors in 2008, it has attracted some of the world's biggest football stars, including Carlos Tevez, David Silva and Yaya Toure.
