Joan Collins was sceptical of modern fashion but accepted a shift in attitudes |
Businesses such as Mango, a popular brand of watches and clothing, have emerged as a response to the greed of the 1980s, according to a major actress
The British acting starlet of Dynasty has questioned the evolving trends of the workplace and beyond, noting that it is becoming smarter to be more casual, partic ularly due to a brand famous for its watch associations.
Making her comments in the Daily Telegraph, Joan Collins explained that the arrival of the "dotcom boom" in particular can be credited with the emergence of more relaxed yet sharp clothes, especially with stores such as Zara and Mango which "taught us how to do smart-casual".
The world-famous actress explained: "The Nineties changed everything. They were all about not trying too hard. I think it was out of hate for the Eighties and the excess and greed of that decade."
However, Ms Collins is worried that we no longer look as smart as we could at our desks and on a day-to-day basis, and that we may have become "lazy", though this may simply be the evolution of a trend.
Mango recently released its new collection with the help of Scarlett Johansson, who models the autumn/winter range.
