Coventry Watch Museum on TV |
More people could be planning to learn about the artistry that goes into making fine watches by paying a visit to a museum dedicated to the craft
A museum dedicated solely to watches is likely to see a big increase in its visitor numbers soon as it is to feature in a national TV programme.
Coventry Watch Museum is to feature in a forthcoming episode of the BBC Two programme Antiques Road Trip, which will see expert Charles Hanson playing a visit to the location, the Coventry Observer reported.
During his visit, Hanson looked at the vast number of watches and clocks that are on display in the museum and interviewed chairman Paul Shufflebottom.
He explained that he hopes the exposure will attract more visitors to the museum, which will in turn help them raise much needed funds ahead of potentially receiving lottery funding.
"We are looking for some smaller more immediate funds so that we can carry out some improvements to enhance the visitor experience during the spring and summer," Mr Shufflebottom told the newspaper.
The popularity of watches appears to be on the increase, as luxury company Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy reported a strong rise in its sales during 2011.
