Consumers want more interesting watches |
Consumers are the driving force behind innovation in the watch industry rather than competition from within the industry itself, an expert has said
Consumers are the driving force behind the development of new watches and innovation that takes place within the industry, a head of Titan watches has stated.
Harish Bhat, chief operating officer of the watch manufacturer in India, told DNA India that the company seeks to do something different every year to keep up with consumer demand.
He explained the company has seen success in recent years as it has looked towards what consumers want from their products, which has resulted in the development of items like a gold watch that evokes India of the past.
Another is the Zoop children's watch, as the company noted there was gap in the market for the product.
"The pace of innovation has to do much more with the change in consumer and not really because of the change in competition," Mr Bhat added.
Appealing to consumers with an attractive advertising campaign can also work well, as Guess watches has recently sought to highlight the elegance of the timepieces with a glamorous Hollywood-inspired photo shoot.
