Rating Breakdown (Average rating: 4.5 / 5)
|Very good||(1 review)|
Rating: Excellent (5 / 5)
A flawlessly presented well made watch with quality finishing that would be expected of higher priced brands. It has a solid feel but remains elegant with small touches such as the Camden bridge blue coloured second hand and small C embossed on the adjuster.
Rating: Very good (4 / 5)
This is certainly one handsome watch.
The brown leather and gold metal complement each other beautifully and make for a simple, elegant design suitable for both formal and informal wear. Perhaps, if pushed, Id say it feels a little more appropriate accompanying jeans and a shirt for a night down the pub, rather than sitting under a suit at the office you might want to consider whether the brown leather really goes with your average black/grey suit, but ultimately its smart enough for any occasion.
My initial fear when ordering was that it might prove a bit large and chunky, but its actually rather sleek and the whole thing has a genuine feeling of quality to it that makes the £99 price tag seem thoroughly reasonable if there was a Hugo Boss or Calvin Klein name slapped across this watch, itd likely set you back two or three times this price. Above all, the face is the star of the show here - a classic, tasteful design brought to life by the gold surrounding it. A series of neat little touches, such as the pale blue second hand designed, as described in the marketing spiel, to emulate the colouring of Camden Bridge and the C on the dial though I do suspect this may fade in time, as its not actually engraved help to complete the look and also lend a distinct brand identity to what is still a very new and upcoming manufacturer.
The only minor disappointment Id point out is the strap - for one thing, the leather is deceptively thin around the back of the watch compared to the pictures provided - the top half of the strap has a thicker double layer, but the lower half is a slimmer single layer. Whilst its not a huge problem, and doesnt make the watch look cheap by any means, there is a slight flimsiness to it that I can only hope wont result in tears to the material down the line.
Worth noting that you will likely need to flatten out the central sections of the strap, just either side of the face, as the leather is a bit stiff initially - upon first wearing, the straps will basically come out of the face horizontally and then pretty much at a right angle to wrap around your wrist, looking a bit silly - curiously three-dimensional. But once youve pushed them down and worn it in, this looks fine. Also worth noting, in case you dont spot it in the pictures here, that the strap runs across the underside of the face, so your wrist will be in contact with the leather rather than the metal, in case this bothers you - for me it felt absolutely fine, though it does unfortunately cover up the nice engraving on the bottom of the face.
All in all, a classy watch thats a little bit different from the mass-produced stuff being churned out by the bigger name manufacturers - strongly recommended.
