Victorinox Swiss Army Men's INOX Watch

Estimated 3 - 10 working days to United States

Victorinox, a company with the status of a national treasure in Switzerland because of its most legendary product – the Swiss Army Knife – is celebrating its 130th anniversary in 2014.

To mark the occasion, Victorinox Swiss Army has created I.N.O.X., a new watch that pays tribute to the history and industrial know-how of the brand by showcasing the values that have made it famous: authenticity, strength, quality, expertise and Swiss design.

An exceptional celebration requires an exceptional watch. I.N.O.X. demonstrates a level of robustness never before achieved in watchmaking. Designed to withstand unusual stress, it has passed a ruthless battery of 130 strength tests.

Some of the I.N.O.X. tests were so extreme they merit special mention. An I.N.O.X. is tested to be capable of resisting:

Salt spray corrosion or chemical attacks by all kinds of fuels, oils, solvents, cleaning products, insecticides... including sulfuric and nitric acid solution. Again, a standard not for watches but for the military, borrowed from the US Army

8 tons compression under a hydraulic press - I.N.O.X. can also resist being driven over by a truck of 25 tons or a military tank weighing up to 64 tons

Temperatures shocks from -57 deg to +71 deg Celsius. This corresponds to the standard set by the US Army for the manufacture of missiles. Nothing comparable exists in the world of watchmaking

A fall of 10 meters onto a concrete surface. This is the equivalent of a drop from a 3-floor building. Impact speed from this distance is 50 kilometres per hour

Exposure to a flame at a distance of 5mm for more than one minute (+1200 deg C)

Two hours in a washing machine at 90 deg C with full spin cycle.

Glacial cold. The watch will function non-stop and without complaint, even when frozen in an ice cube for 168 hours

Extreme conditions at a stratospheric altitude of 21,300 meters, which is twice the height at which the airliners fly

Beyond the standard certification tests of the Swiss watch industry, this series of new tests was developed specifically for I.N.O.X. and reflect Victorinox Swiss Army’s passion for pushing boundaries and imposing new rules on resistance and quality.

This watch comes with the standard blue rubber strap, as well as a removable silicone and nylon bumper to further protect the watch beyond the abuse of the 130 tests given.

VERIFIED WATCHSHOP BUYER    (PURCHASED: MON 1ST DEC 2014)

I had looked into the INOX for quite some time and I had done a lot of watch researching prior to the purchase. From my experience this is one of the watches on the market today, where you get the best value. You get superb quality sapphire glas none of that hardlex stuff, you get a good lume the amount of light the numerals give off when its dark, and a swiss made movement. All of these things usually go for a much higher prize and that makes the increased size easy to live with!

That being said, it is quite a large watch and I do not have a flimsy wrist, but the heritage of some of the audemar piquet styling might shine through here Victorinox recently hired a guy who used to work for Audemar Piquet.

I was really pleased when I recieved the watch, as it carried with it an extra nato strap that gave it a really nice and sporty look and also added a great deal of comfort to wearing the watch compared to the sometimes pinching rubber strap which is really good quality though. A small Victorinox Swiss Army knife was also included, with a little toolbar to switch straps - Nice touch Victorinox!

I have been wearing this watch for about a week now and I have gotten used to the weight, and it actually only adds a bit of quality feel to the watch in my opinion. I have worn it on nights out and it hasnt got a single scratch on it apart from a small one in the upper steel casing which is to be expected.

All in all, a really nice watch with great value - take it from someone who really has looked around!

Final words on the looks of the watch - I love have the deep casing has a really different and quality feel and the blue colour looks great with everything from formal wear to a t shirt and small details on the watch keep coming up! Like the small read 24 hour numbers at the base rim of the dial, nice touch again.

Only thing that didnt quite meet the standards were the fact that my 3 year international warranty was not stamped or filled out from the dealer even though it states on the website that they are an authorised Victorinox online dealer, dont quite know why it was not filled out, might have been a slip up.

If you want a really robust practical watch for a great price, go for this. Surprisingly comfortable to wear for a chunky piece of wrist candy. Blue rather than black gives it a bit of an edge. Green if youre a part-time soldier. Also easy to tell the time by day or night - not always a feature of modern watches.

UNVERIFIED REVIEW (The reviewer has not yet been verified themselves as a Watch Shop customer)

Good-looking, stylish, solid watch, obviously well-made, and the blue is exceptionally smart, goes with anything short of a dinner jacket. So why am I about to send mine back? Because one thing that drives me mad about watches is when the second hand is out of alignment with the indices on the chapter ring, which this is, At least, its accurately aligned from about 10 past to 25 past and then out of alignment the rest of the dial. Its a tiny thing, but as a quartz second hand clicks from second to second, it just looks poor quality for it not to align accurately, either the escapement or the dial printing is out of whack. Much though Id like to hand onto this watch I really like everything else seeing this day after day would drive me crazy. A shame.

Just about perfect watch for me. The detachable protector rocks! Wore the watch whilst crossloading a bunch of tour trucks in Holland at the weekend for a well-known rock band and the watch scored 10 out of 10. Hard as nails and looks great, just what I wanted. I have 2 other Victorinox watches and recommend them to anyone!!!

Watch loved by recipient. Perhaps the strap could be a little longer, but he has large wrists. Colour blue excellent, very understated navy blue.
