Rating: Excellent (5 / 5)
This review is primarily to Bill who gave the last review of this marvellous watch a grilling. Firstly the Seiko Sportura got is a work of art from a very well known renowned watch company. The style and quality speaks for itself and for this price range I dont think you can buy a better watch for your bucks! I mean if you think theres too many numbers on the bezel Bill didnt you notice that on the internet when you was browsing at this watch or even pop into a high street store to check it out before you bought it I mean at just under £400.00 I thought that would just be common sense?! Anyway to the watch itself heres the truthfully definitive review.................. This watch is a technical marvel and as I got it for less than £290.00 it was a bargain as well! The features of this watch include :- A Kinetic movement so you dont need to buy a batteries anymore, Gmt function so you can have either a dual time or 24 hour set up, Sapphire lens, See through glass at the back of the watch so you can see the Kinetic movement working, a Screw down crown, its 100m water resistant, got a Date feature at 3pm, Luminous hands and markers and finally its got Seikos reliability and peace of mind what more do you need!! So well done Seiko for producing such a beautiful watch that screams out QUALITY.
Rating: Excellent (5 / 5)
This is a very beautiful and classy watch. I own the previous model SNL043P2 which I love a great deal, although it has a very different style. The Kinetic system on the older watch is simply incredible. I may only wear the watch every 3 or 4 weeks for 1 day, even with that little amount of use it never stops or loses power. I was drawn to the new model simply because the last one was a feat of engineering for this price range. I went to a shop to look at the new watch in person. I thought it was very nice and has a very classy look, great to wear with suits or smart attire. I bought from Watchshop as they had the best deal.
When the watch arrived I popped it on right away. Recently I usually only buy watches with rubber or leather straps. I have owned many watches that have a metal bracelet but I often them too heavy, uncomfortable and that hairs on my forearm get caught in the links. However this watch could not be more comfortable. Once I found the correct bracelet length, it has fit very snugly and has not needed adjustment. The watch has a solid weight but is not too heavy. I also dont have any issue with hair catching in the bracelet.
The look of this watch is simply stunning. The more I look at it, the more beautiful it becomes. Its a very classy and sophisticated watch. No picture online does this watch any justice, you have to see it in person to really appreciate it The picture on this website makes the watch look flat and matte in finish. In reality this watch has a lovely glossy shine, especially the piano black outer dial which really pops. The watch face is reasonably big and looks very classy with the large white numbering on the black outer dial. I also like how the GMT hand which is a bold red just adds that something special to the look. When you look closely at the watch face it has an almost dimpled texture, which again just adds another dimension to the watch. This watch looks very different to the previous model but in itself it is very attractive watch. You must see it in the flesh to fully appreciate.
I have to finish up with the most important aspect of the watch, that is the engineering. Yet again the Kinetic performs incredibly. It takes very little use to keep the watch fully charged and it never loses a second. I have a friend who owns an automatic Ebel, he tells me his watch needs to be worn or shaken daily to keep its power. He cant understand how a watch in this price range can outperform a £2000+ watch. I also think the design of the watch is beautifully engineered. I also love the viewing pane to the rear of the watch. After I explain to people how this watch powers itself, I love to take it off to show them the rotating plate that moves with you to power the watch. They always have this Wow look on their face. In this price range you will not get a better quality Kinetic. In me, Seiko Kinetic Sportura has a fan for life.
I too must also note my displeasure at Bills review above. It seems to me that he must own a completely different watch. The watch is stunning and looks far more expensive than it is. Its also a wonderful piece of engineering at this price. He mentions issues with the luminosity. In this regard this watch performs as good as any other. If you want a watch with good luminosity, then buy a watch specific for that purpose. I own a Luminox which is great for this reason.
I cannot recommend this Sportura watch enough. Brilliant!
Rating: Poor (1 / 5)
Very disappointed for a watch costing£370 I find it is not even luminous .the surface of the bezel feels as if it has not been machined properly their are also to many numbers stamped into it which spoils the look of the watch. If I thought I could get a decent price for it I would trade it in for a different model.
Rating: Excellent (5 / 5)
What can i say wow, this is by far the best watch for the price on the market. Its stylish light and extremely well put together. My favorite feature of this watch is the overall appearance, the big fat hands and basic layout makes it look like a classic omega but at a fraction of the price. The black face and red 24 hour and hand give a good contrast in colour it was nice to find a watch that dose not have chronograph on the face as i find these can be overbearing. All in all im very happy with my purchase and cant wait to Seiko makes next.
Rating: Very good (4 / 5)
I own the blue model of this watch and have to say its a real good looker, keeps time incredibly well, with the added bonus of the second independent time zone finger which I use to keep tabs on my daughters time in Queensland, so overall a very nice time piece. would have scored full marks apart from the really poor luminous fingers and markers. As someone else already pointed out these aint good. Got in touch with Seiko and they said they hadnt had any issues or reports about it. That bad Im quite amazed no one else has rung them. I own a couple of citizens and casio watches and no such issues with these, probably the worst Ive had for this kind of money. Shame really, nearly my perfect watch but not quite!!
