Having become tired of being let down by quartz watches as the battery begins to run down I was originally looking for an automatic movement as an alternative, but was put off by their price and more by how large and bulky they are. Very pleased to discover the Citizen eco drive watch. It keeps excellent time, has a clean white face with gold markings, easy to read day and date, comfortable brown leather strap and an unobtrusive diameter and thickness at a very reasonable price. No more batteries to replace!

The Citizen Eco-Drive is the first watch I've bought in forty-two years, and I'm delighted with everything about it - it's appearance, fit, and classic looks. I might just further explain that I have recently had to dispose of the only watch I owned in those forty-two years - an Omega 'Constellation' automatic - and it perhaps says everything about my new Citizen that it more than matches the Omega in sheer style and appearance.
Needless to say, I set the watch immediately on delivery, more than a fortnight ago now, and it is perfect to the second and the time signal.

A very attractive, slim design with clearly defined numbers and markings. The day/date window could be slightly larger to make the information clearer.



A nice leather strap, although my thick wrist could do with a longer strap length so that the end tab can be easily inserted into the retaining bands.



All in all I think it is a 'a good buy'.

The watch is exactly as desribed on the website.Ideally I would have liked a 'champagne' dial as opposed to white.

But I wanted day and date which are more important to me.

Bought the watch as a leaving present for a work colleague. When it arrived (very swift postage) I was pleasantly surprised to see it come in a very nice Citizen box and for the watch itself to be very stylish, elegant and have a solid build quality to it. This suited our colleague right down to the ground (he is 56) and he was made up.

I was looking for a goldie watch with brown leather strap. I just like that combination of colours and textures. This one seemed fantastic value. Overall, I am pleased with the watch. It receives its charge from natural light, therefore no need for winding, ever. You change the day/date manually every month, but this is easily achieved with the crown mechanism. The face is a nice textured ivory white, the figures are crisply delineated, and the strap is a shiny chestnut brown. OK it's not a Cartier, but what do you expect for less than £100?

Really liked the big 3cm face for ease and confidence in telling the time. The lovely mahogany strap stays firm on my wrist without any swivel formerly experienced with metal clasps. Any quibble would be with the day/date face which, because of its recessed nature, is frequently in shade and not so piercingly clear for someone like me who forgets what day it is. I'm exceedingly pleased. My boiling eggs are perfectly timed now too!

The watch gives very good value for money. The entire impression of the product is quite good. The only minus side is that the leather quality feels a bit cheap, but at this price you can't expect more. In real life, the watch (including both the strap and the case) is a bit darker than in the picture (overexposed photo).



Overall a very nice watch for very little money.

Watch Shop Team: Ecodrive and solar are pretty much the same thing, they are both charged by light. automatic is charged by the movement of the wrist
