I like this watch very much - I have wanted something more classy since I had my Seiko, forty years ago. It's a beautiful design, understated and not flashy. The face is a kind of blue slate colour and not bright. The attention to detail on the face is amazing but it doesn't look cluttered, plus all the hands point accurately, something I regard as a mark of quality. The casing is polished and the bracelet is interleaved polished and satin finish. It is heavy, but once I adjusted the bracelet, the weight on my wrist feels just right. It's a very good time-keeper - I set it two weeks ago and it's now only marginally out by a fraction of a second. I'm used to radio-controlled devices, so I think this is a good performance for a mechanical watch. I have not found it difficult to alter modes, although it is important to gently ease the crown pin out to the first setting to avoid having to readjust settings. The fact that it performs its duties using light sources only to charge itself is just fantastic and the running period on full charge is exceptional - there is no power meter though, so it's wise to keep it topped up. To run for one day requires only two minutes of sunlight. A great watch.

This watch is awesome! It is darker that what it looks like on the pictures online. I wish it was alittle bit lighter. Also as a first time premium watch buyer... I noticed how complicated it is to reset and set the watch. I recommend the new owners to use the CD-ROM manual. Its alot easier than the crappy paper manual. Originally I was gunna go for the CB0010-53L but it was too too big. The Calibre 8700 is just right!

Great watch, very stylish. Not too large for the average wrist. Looks far better than any photo. Roman numerals have a very attractive silver colouring finish and not as white as in some photos. Much better than could have hoped for. Don't be put off as some illustrations appear to show the features too prominent but in reality time is easy to view. Bracelet looks good and compliments the overall look of the watch.

The product was excellent and my brother was delighted to receive it as a birthday present. It is a very stylish watch solidly constructed with a quality feel on the wrist, the size and the weight of the watch reinforces the quality feel as it is weighty but not cumbersome as some watches are these days. My only criticism of my purchase is that on the picking notes I received with the watch, there was some colourful language used which caused me some concern but when I contacted the customer care dept I was reassured that the comments had no bearing on my purchase. Overall I am delighted with my purchase

I purchased this item as a present for my boyfriend, and he loves it! I pondered for a while over choosing the appropriate design, and feel the Citizen watch successfully combines functionality with elegant, masculine design. Some of the watches I viewed were too "sporty" in appearance; whereas the Calibre 8700 looks just at home with a T-shirt and jeans, or a well-cut suit. A definite receommended purchase.

i bought this watch in Jan 2006, and what a great buy its been.
all coments regarding the watch have been ecellent who have seen me wearing it. its casual enough to wear with jeans and smart enough to wear with a suit.
It has always kept time perfectly and automatically adjusts dates and leap yrs.
I can honestly recommend this watch as it is a very nice piece of kit.

Just recieved the watch today, and am very pleased. Its nicely weighty, and looks great, a little less brightblue htan the photo, but I think it looks better in the flesh. Setting up took a little which but was easy enough when following the manual, and Im particularly please that unlike some other Citizens the alarm works in both timezones, and the cronw needs to be pulled out before it changes modes, so hopefully less accidental changes. Also, a note for watchshopuk.com, I originally purchased the BL5350-59L, but in the flesh thought it looked over the top, and the bezel felt cheap. The service was great, I returned the watch and within a few days had the new watch, and a refund for the difference. Comms were a little slow, but dont worry, they are working away and it was a great result - one very nice watch, and one very happy customer.

Fantastic Watch, however note that the dial is a bit darker than some of the pictures floating around the internet. The warranty card came fully stamped, that extra piece of mind is worth far more than the small saving to be made on dubious ebay watches.
