VERIFIED WATCHSHOP BUYER (PURCHASED: SAT 24TH MAR 2012)
This radio controlled solar powered watch is excellent. Its main features are alarm(s), stopwatch, countdown timer, solar power, compass, is water resistant to 100m, world time, altimeter, barometer, auto-light, date display and a graph. This watch has a Maximum Gadget value in my view.
Weight:
The watch is not as heavy as i thought it would be, considering it looks chunky in the pictures. Its actually quite light and not chunky at all.
On the wrist:
When wearing it, the watch doesnt get in the way of sleeves and can be tucked in under the sleeve or just out in the open on the wrist.
Strap:
The strap on this Casio watch has improved in comparison to previous models. The strap doesnt create noticeable friction on the wrist so it doesnt feel like you are being gripped by the strap (which is good).
Style:
In my view its by far the most stylish Casio watch that has both Dials and is Digital at the same time. It is black on black, so the watch will go well with anything you wear.
It has achieved the right balance for those that want a watch for the outdoors and something that looks very sophisticated. Extremely practical indeed. In terms of appearance it is definetly an improvement to the prw-5000.
The PRW-5100 is the best watch I have ever bought and has all the usable functions I would ever need.
Likes:
The time is radio controlled and d, so its always accurate.
Its solar powered, so I never need to about the battery running out.
It tells you when it needs energy... The 3rd hand will tick every couple of seconds.
Another good thing is that the watch goes into sleep mode at night to conserve energy. (Time is not effected and still accurate).
I has a auto light which i think is great. In lowly light places (indoor or outdoor), Lift the watch to chest or neck level to look at the time and the light will turn on. Impressive. Lights up for either 1 or 3 seconds depending on your preference.
The gadgets are great to play with and very useful for a person like myself who likes to go out in the city as well as the countryside.
Its a tough watch able to resist shocks, which is good.
The 3rd hand dial moves to the altimeter, barometer or compass, when you select one of those features. Its also used as a pointer for the compass and the compass also appears on the digital screen.
The 3rd hand is also used as an indicator when you select world time or select one of the modes on the watch. Amazing !!
Dislikes:
The manual is small, but i suppose they needed to fit everything in the box neatly, so its OK. The writing is small and you will need to read it well definetly need to read it to know how to set things up and basically how the watch works. So its best to read in a well lit room.
The light does not illuminate the digital screen very well, but the rest of the screen is well lit when the light is on.
The thermometer measures the temperature of the watch and takes into consideration the temperature given off by your wrist. You will need to take your watch off for approximately 45 mins, to get the temperature of the room.
--------
The "dislikes" for this watch will probably apply to more or less every watch, not just this model, especially the temperature function. So Im not disappointed at all.
Overall the watch is beautiful and excellent. I am an extremely happy customer.

VERIFIED WATCHSHOP BUYER (PURCHASED: MON 9TH JAN 2012)
I was looking for a radio controller solar powered watch with alarm and stopwatch. And I didn't want a heavy piece of metal on my wrist.
I couldn't find anything I thought looked particular stylish, so instead went for maximum toy value. I didn't like the styling on the PRW-5000, which I'm guessing is pretty much the same functionally.
Thus far I'm happy with the PRW-5100.
Likes:
It tells the right time and I don't need to worry about the battery running down.
The toys (compass, barometer, thermometer) have a certain play value. And I can see them being useful when I resume my South West Coast Path project.
It's not too big and nicely light.
As work sends me to Europe frequently, the home/world timezone swap is good.
I like the light, especially the auto-light feature - hold your wrist horizontal, and then turn the watch face towards you in the dark. The light comes on. Very kiddy.
Dislikes:
The minute markers on the dial are effectively invisible.
The light does not illuminate the LCD screen very well.
The thermometer basically measures the temperature of the watch. To get a reasonable reading of ambient temperature, I had to remove the watch for an hour or so. Ye canna change the laws of physics.
The manual is OK, but small - 10.5x7cm. So the type is rather small. Oh, and its 2cm thick. And you will need to read it.
