A sturdy watch with stylish black strap. A major appeal for me was the size of the watch face. Given the current trend for ridiculously large watches, this one had a more reasonably sized face that sits comfortably on the wrist. The watch features solar powering and atomic time-keeping, which keeps the time accurate. The downside of these features is that the instruction book recommends keeping the watch face fully exposed at all times to charge the solar cell - a bit problematic when wearing long sleeves - and the watch has to be positioned a certain way at night to receive the time , but these are minor quibbles. On the whole the watch ticks all my boxes and is highly recommended.

I've been after a tough watch for some time as I seem to go through them at an alarming rate. I've had this g-shock for 3 weeks now and it's been MX, mountain biking and 2 hours snowball fighting and snow man making lol. I couldn't rate the watch high enough, looks great ie not too huge, has just enough features to not blow the mind, is really tough and actually looks better with wear. Was a little fiddly to setup, but one set is really excellent

I have trawled through all the G Shock Watches the past few weeks and this model kept catching my eye. I wanted something with a smaller face than the conventional G Shock Watch. When this arrived I was instantly overjoyed with the way it looked. Its really light on your wrist, easy to use and great for the type of work I do. This model is without doubt the bext looking of the range and im sure its going to last me for many years to come. A great xmas prezzy of my girlfriend. Over the moon with it. Really great watch. Not to bulky yet still feels substantial enough to feel confident that It's not going to get damaged easily and very stylish too. Functions are great and very useful. The only draw back is that you will have to spend an hour or so reading the instruction booklet learning how to utilise them all. But it's worth it as it's as they are all really useful. Would recomend this watch to any one.

I bought the watch based on it's features and looks. Very pleased with it overall it's comfortable and not huge like some G Shocks. Be aware though that the 3 LCD screens are very small and therefore difficult to read. However it's fine for general display of the day and seconds. All considered I like it very much.

I was unsure whether to spend this much on a watch as I had not ever spent more than £20 on cheap wristwatches. I took the chance based on the other good reviews, and am not disappointed in the least. The watch looks and wears well on the wrist. I use it for quite an active job where there is a risk that it could get bashed about, but I am not worried as the design is solid. The watch also looks great with the mix of analogue hands and three digital/lcd windows. The automatic time updating is easy to set if you follow the intructions, as is setting home town, alarm, chimes etc. Overall, very pleased with the watch, well worth spending the extra money compared to a cheap wristwatch. You never know, never having to replace a battery due to the solar power function, it might even pay for itself!

I was looking for a particular watch that was failry cheap and had functionality as I was going on a trip into the jungle, I could of went for something that all the extra features such as barometer, altimeter etc but you pay the price. Then I stumbled across this and was perfect, solar power, tough and along with water proof and the wave ceptor is superb watch. Also the digital sub-dials are simple to use (dont be put off) and very useful. It is also quitre smart and would recommend for everyday use, not too large either. One extra feature which would be nice but I am not sure if watches even have this function would be the ability to set time zones as it would aid to the timekeeping however is not a problem as when the time cannot be received it can also be manually set.

I immediately liked the design of this watch. While it still has the typical sturdy G-shock look, most definitely, it is slightly less bulky and austere than my previous G-Shock, which served me well for almost 25 years (and has now been passed on to my son). So there never was any doubt in my mind as to which brand and type I would go shopping for. When I saw the picture on the Watchshop site, I immediately knew this was the one I would go for. One nitpicking remark if I may, about the picture on the watchshop site: the hour-hand in the picture looks almost bordeaux red on my pc monitor. On the actual watch it is a much brighter, almost fiery red. The features that appealed to me most are the solar function – no more battery worries, ever – and the wave ceptor function that keeps the time adjusted automatically. While the manual (which I downloaded from the Casio site before the purchase) specifies that you should take off the watch at night and put it just so in front of a window, I find that time signal reception here is so good that I can simply keep it on. Of course this may be different in mountainous areas or if you live further away from the transmitter, I imagine. As to fit and wearing comfort, all I can say is: it's perfect for me. I hardly notice I'm wearing it, which is exactly the way I want my watch. One minor niggle: as you may notice in the picture I have added, depending on lighting circumstances you can get reflections in the glass front that may make reading the time at a glance a bit more difficult than it should be. However, a second glance on a watch this stylish is never much of an effort, really. So let me conclude by saying that if I got a second chance, I would most certainly buy this exact same watch again, and from the same seller – as I was very pleased with the excellent service and rapid delivery to the continent at an extremely good rate. Ordered on Sunday, arrived here in Maaseik on Tuesday.

The trend at the moment seems to be watches with massive faces, which I think are absolutely hideous. This has a really nice size face, not too small and not too big. Lovely watch, very easy to use with functions galore! I won't use them all of course but half the fun of owning a watch like this is knowing that you CAN tell the time in Cairo should you ever find yourself there. Found the watch face itself a little small - the watch including case may be as big as the Tag I'm used to but the face is much smaller - be aware of that before you buy. That said this is very much an "outdoor action watch" something to tell the time when out and about so not a fashion statement so the watch face is not so much an issue.

Nice looking watch, smaller than my previous G-Shock (I prefer the larger watch). Solar and Atomic functions are excellent to have - one associated idiosyncrasy is that you have to leave the watch by a window overnight to receive time s. All in all a very good/useful watch, I just wish that you could set the countdown timer to the second as that is useful for me at work - this one can only be set to the minute.

Fancied a new G Shock watch for a while as my last one is 10 years old and still going but looking tired. This one has everything I need in a day to day use watch, robust, looks great and has the benefit of atomic clock accuracy. The solar charging is also an added bonus. Easy to set up once you read the instructions and was almost ready to go straight from the packaging. The watch has a slightly smaller face than some G Shock watches, which is what I wanted. Comfortable to wear, you hardly notice it is on. I would recommend this watch and watchshop to anyone.

The watch looks fanastic, setting up was piece of cake - really easy although the manual that come with the watch was quite small but I got the watch working using it. Very happy with the watch,looks great on and not to big. This is 4th g-shock I have had and won't buy anything else. They are very tough and can be worn all time. Very good for surfing swimming biking etc and work. Draw backs are digital display cannot be viewed at certain times as blocked by the 'hands' but I didn't see this as essential. The light is ok but doesn't illuminate the digital display which is bit annoying. However if this was essential I would have bought a digital. The service from watch shop was fantastic and will recommend to people I like. Thank you.

I wanted a watch to use as a daily workhorse etc work,gym,mountain biking and for taking on holiday that could take some knocks and this watch fits the bill exactly, looks chunky and robust without being to over big and cheap, good features solar power and atomic timekeeping,its comfortable to wear all day and fairly light and looks good. A buy and not worry about watch compared to my heavywieght and automatic watches.Not a dress watch but it doesnt set out to be.Would recomend.

The strap is thinner than other G-Shocks, which I was not expecting but this seems to make it more comfortable. I like that it is solar powered and self adjusting - low maintenance for years! I also think that the face looks better in real life than in the online photos. I guess how much you like the overall styling is down to taste. Not disappointed in any way so far.

My first digital watch in a very long time - I could not make the full step away from hands though. Bought as my running, mountain biking, swimming and holiday beater. Watch sits very nicely on my 7.5" wrist and does have a quality feel to it - even though it's light compared to the lumps of metal I'm more used to. I like the look, feel, solar power (never seen the power reserve below "high") and the fact it syncs with the Rugby radio time signal. Stopwatch can be hard to read with swimming goggles on and water on the face (mine and the watch). If you really want the stopwatch a lot, don't go ana-digi. The hands will always obscure the digital bit when you don't want them to. Being more used to manuals and autos, the symmetry and lack of a crown is an issue for orientating the thing if you're half asleep and it's dark - it's not obvious which way up is 12 o'clock, so reading the time means you have to wake up a bit. Lume is a bit poor, but the light is good. Overall it's a very good watch though and it's nice to have a reference to set all my manuals and autos against. Free next day delivery on this made it excellent value.

Nice little watch, bought it to do sports (squash mainly) and it is working as expected. Lot's of features but I just wanted the "shock" resistance to avoid any problems. Was really pleased with the watch. It looks a lot nicer in real life than in the picture. It is a good size and weight: not as bulky as the original g-shocks, but still could take a knock or two. Very good sports watch because the glass front is recessed so won't get scratched nearly as much as other watches.

Main pros: combines the stylishness of an analogue watch, but has all the functionality of a digital watch (stopwatch, countdown, alarms, etc). The solar power with battery indicator and radio controlled time features are also excellent - never have to change the battery or the time/date.

Main cons: the light is not particularly good for the digital features of the watch (although the hands are luminous).

Overall, a really smart watch with great looks and functionality.

I bought this watch for travel and daily use.Its slightly smaller than other G-shocks I've had so thats a plus.
The use of the buttons is a bit awkward as they are recessed into the case.
The light is what Id call an old fashioned light instead of a back lit one so it just lights up the hands rather than giving you access to the whole features of it.
The automatic function is complicated to use and I've just left it. I would say automatic meant you didnt have to do anything yourself, as it would pick up the time zone you were in. This isnt the case.
The choice of view on the dials is disapointing. I like to have the day and date on show for the travelling Im doing ,but it will just have date or day.
All in all good to look at, but not as user friendly or usefull as I had hoped/wanted, especially given the price.

Although i am very happy with my watch
there are a couple of things you may need to be aware of
1. the back light is not great
2. if your eye sight isn't great you may have trouble reading the small dails.
3. It did take a bit of time to set up
ie the english transmiter only operates during the night and i found the world times had to be adjusted manually for dst. ( british summer time )
But its well worth spending a bit of time working out how it all functions and after all its a very clever bit of kit.
I am quite hard wearing on my watches and have busted a few in the past. but this seems very robust whilst looking good at the same time.
I must be pleased with my new watch coz im actually wearing it more often than my omega seamaster. There's praise in its self.

Great watch - loved it as soon as it came out of the box. Brilliant self setting time feature - good rugged watch took it out on a 4000ft summit camp in the Cairngorms the day after it arrived it endured every type of weather except snow in one weekend alone plus some granite scrambling and river crossings etc - took it all in its stride and still looks absolutely perfect - very comfy strap as well - would recommend both this watch and Watch Shop to anybody without a problem

First of all, the web site buying xperiance is excellent and I got the watch the next day, so excellent service on their part. The watch itself, I needed something for everyday wear, fit for purpose, rugged and a watch where form and function takes equal precedence. This watch puts a tick in all boxes. It's not huge so looks nice on the wrist. The strap is confortable and sturdy. The fact you will never have to change the battery and it has wave ceptor technology is a bg bonus for me. Its a very small gripe but the hands of the watch can occassion cover the dials depending on what time it is, but this has not been too much of agreat issue so far. Definately recommend buying this watch.

Great watch. Tried it on in a shop before hand and new that it was the watch for me.

Pros - looks good, great face, good fit, sturdy, reliable, love the way it can set it's own time, solar powered, chunky.

Cons - The hour hand does not stand out as much as the minutes(not a big deal), you cant change from American date format, you can't move anything to the seconds display like the day, the light does not illuminate the digital parts at night and also does not stay on for long.

Verdict - I would buy this watch again if I lost it. It's a great looking watch and I am very pleased with the purchase.

Excellent watch especially for the price. Bought it for cycling but have ended up wearing it more than either of my Armani watches! Packed full of features. Love the automatic time adjust. One minor thing is that the LED only lights up the hands not the LCD displays so you cant read them in poor light. Never needed to though but you never know. If your after a cheapish casual high tech watch, this is the one for you 9.5 out of 10.

I received the watch quickly. Ordered it Sunday afternoon, arrived in west of Ireland on Wednesday.

There are four minor design faults that I find annoying about this watch:
1. The digital time, day of week, and date are all displayed in the same screen, and you have to press a button to toggle between each one. There is one screen dedicated to displaying the seconds. An analog second hand would free up that screen, and allow more information to be displayed at the same time.

2. The circular screens where the digital time/day of week/date and seconds are displayed are obscured partially by the hour hand, and totally by the minute hand at certain times (when hands point to 3 or 9),making it difficult to see what date it is when you sit at your desk at 9am for example. Narrower hands, or a larger font in the display would possibly solve this issue.

3. The next fault I consider very minor. The colour of the hour hand makes it difficult to notice at a glance in certain light conditions. I find myself staring at the watch for about 5 seconds trying to find the hour hand. Maybe when I have the watch longer, I'll be more used to it.

4. The last fault I find most annoying. The LED light does not illuminate the LCD displays, making them impossible to read at night. I expect the G-Shock watches with LED Display Super Illuminator do not have this problem, but of course have a bigger price tag.

My last watch was a Casio WS300-7BV. It did not have the above faults which is probably why I miss being able see all the information I wanted in one screen. However, it was not a G-Shock.

I'm very particular about timekeeping. The main reasons my watch would have incorrect time before, was either low battery, or it was set with the wrong time. I bought this watch because I know I won't have these problems, and I'm guaranteed to have the correct time.

For me, the functionality and features of this watch overshadow the disappointment of the minor faults I have found with it. I would still recommend this watch to anyone, unless seeing the LCD display in the dark is vitally important to you. In that case, the GW1800BRJ-1A seems to be the same watch with the super illuminator, and the tip of the hour hand seems slightly smaller than mine, and may help with the issue of the hands blocking the LCD display. Having said that it comes with a much larger price tag.


Tip: The module number of this watch is 4765 if you want to download the manual before buying or while waiting for delivery.

Great watch, best price around and great delivery time from watch shop uk.
Sprang into life when taken out of the tin. Then a quick manual sync with the uk time radio control set the time exact.
I recommend downloading the PDF manual from the Casio site. This is much easier on the eye than the one in the tin.

Order at 11.30 am on Friday, arrived at 9.45 am on Saturday. Very well packed and definitely a first class service. Now to the watch. Everything I espected and it is clearly sturdly built and will put up with rough handling. Particlarly like the solar cell and battery and the radio controlled time keeping. I'm pleased that the latter works in both the UK and Canada where I spent a lot of time.

Having had my current g-shock for almost 8 years and subjecting it to some shocking abuse i took the plunge and bought this model. The e-mails kept me informed and the item was delivered within 2 days. The watch is superb, very comfortable on the wrist and unlike my old g-shock, slim enough not to be annoying with reguards to catching on sleaves. The solar battery is a nice touch, the look is stylish and with the g-shock durability hopefully I'll be able to keep this one for the same if not longer time.

just got this watch and first impression was very positive. thanks to watchshopuk for helpinig with my problems, because first watch that I ordered didn't fit on my wrist therefore I decided to give it back. taking into consideration that I live not in UK, but in eastern Europe, they where very helpfull. now I have this one. the reason why I wanted G-Shock is that I'm going to mission abroad, because I serve to my country and I needed tough and reliable watch. so, well see how it works in those severe conditions...

Excellent watch, is easy to set up and added bonus of solar power means you can forget about batteries. This watch is small enough to wear under shirt sleeves but chunky enough to stand up to serious abuse outside. Well worth the money. As for watch shop uk, ordered and delivered inside 24hrs - excellent value and service.
