Elegant and Stylish Zeppelin Watches

The original Zeppelins were a symbol of wealth and elegance. The giant silver airships were the height of technology and luxury during the early 1900s. Zeppelin watches reflect that elegance mixed with technological design to create a classic watch for both men and women.

Namesake
Ferdinand Graf von Zeppelin built his first flying airship called the Zeppelin LZ 1 in 1900. He was the first to bring air travel to the public and constructed 100 total airships in 27 different designs. The largest was the LZ 129, which was 245 meters long with a diameter of 41.2 meters. The craftsmanship of Graf von Zeppelin is reflected in the watches named after his famous dirigibles.

Company Information
Zeppelin watches are made by hand in Germany. Each has an edition and model number engraved on the rear of the housing. The brand is owned by POINTtec, who also owns the Junkers brand. They are the primary distributor for the National German Military Service.

Series
There are 13 different series of Zeppelin watches all named after a series of airship. The LZ127 includes a Chronometer style and the Transatlantic is a streamlined style in 40 to 42 mm sizes. Other series names include Classic Line, Black Line, Captain’s Line and Square Line.

Description
Cases come in stainless steel to a rose gold plate made famous during World War II when bronze was not available as it was used to make shell castings. Jewellers imitated the colour by mixing gold with copper to give it a warm rosy tinge. Faces of Zeppelin watches vary from porcelain in beige or white to blue or black faces with Roman numerals or regular numbering.

Features and Style
Zeppelin watches come in self-winding, winding or automatic and some have alarms or are water resistant. The lady’s version is from the Princess of the Sky Series that lends elegance and style to women’s accessories. There are so many features and styles it is easy to find the perfect watch.

Zeppelin watches come in high or medium range prices and also modest prices. All reflect an elegance of time gone by mixed with the excitement of an emerging, yet modern world.
