Seiko Watches
Seiko has been on the cutting edge of technology since its founding in 1881. Seiko watches unparalleled reliability makes them a favourite for keeping time at sporting events around the world, including numerous Summer and Winter Olympic games.
Rich History
Seiko is a Japanese word that means “exquisite,” “minute,” or “success.” The origins of Seiko watches stems back to 1881, when Kintaro Hattori founded a jewellery and watch store named “K. Hattori.” He started producing clocks a decade later under the name “Seikosha.” The first Seiko watch was produced in 1924. Seiko introduced the world’s first quartz wristwatch, the Astron, in 1969. Seiko, as part of its commitment to making the quartz watch the world standard, opened its patents, allowing anyone to use the technology they developed.
Innovation
Seiko introduced a number of innovative watches to the world, including the first multi-function digital watch in 1975 and the first titanium diver’s watch, also in 1975. Seiko introduced the first watch with computer functions, the first watch with an electrophoresis display and the first electrophoresis display watch with an active matrix system.
Four Technologies
As part of Seiko’s commitment to providing a harmonious experience to the watch wearer, Seiko offers watches with four different technologies. The Spring Drive was introduced in 2005. The Spring Drive is unique in that the seconds hand doesn’t tick; it glides around the dial, more accurately representing time. The Kinetic platform converts the wearer’s movements into the electrical energy that runs the wristwatch. Seiko also offers mechanical watches and continues to offer quartz watches.

The Velatura line is Seiko’s marine watch line. The Tressia line is a women’s watch line that uses solar technology. The Premier line is thoroughly modern, the Coutura and Le Grand Sport lines are sleek and sophisticated.
