Sekonda Watches, including Seksy and Sekonda ONE

History of Sekonda One Watches would take you back to Russia in 1974 when ZIM (located in Kuybyshev) started producing the first LCD digital watches. The model was called B6-02 and it was quite primitive in functionality and bulky in looks. It had three buttons two of which were for setting the hours and minutes and the third one was used for seconds (though for some reasons these were not readily displayed). ZIM manufactured watches under four brands – ZIM, Sekonda, Elektronica and Pobeda.

The Elektornica-1 (also known by the name of model B6.03) is considered by many the first real digital watch of Russia and is a favourite collector’s item. This brand was never exported from Russia though it was in production until the late 90s. The watch had a four digit display of hour and minute as time, and date at the press of the button. A long push on another button would also display seconds.

Evolution of Sekonda One Watches

The next in the evolution of the digital watches in Russia was the Elektronica 5 (model no: 5.202) which had a six digit LCD on the screen with day and date display at the same time. These watches were manufactured by Soviet Integral under the following brand names: Sekonda, Elektronika-5 and Elektronika (during the mid 70s).

Around mid 80s the leading Russian watch factory Poljot came out with multifunctional digital watches which also had analogue display. The watch was primarily manufactured for export to foreign brands and was extremely rare in the Soviet Union itself.

The Sekonda Brand

In 1966 the world learned of the Sekonda One watches brand fro the first time. This was abrand name under which Soviet watches were marketed on the international market. The Sekonda One watches saw major popularity featuring digital watches that had world time – and looked frighteningly like the Seiko watches. The post Soviet Sekonda One watches which has now become the Sekonda One – UK is no more buying Soviet manufactured digital watches since the year 1993.
